Ladies, we all have a Brad, and if you haven’t had one yet, you will at some point. You’ve recently been broken up with and all you can think about is the quickest way to move on. So, how do you get over a guy in 10 days? The short answer of how to get over a guy in 10 days is…there is no answer! As much as we all want to skip over heartbreak and move on from our “Brad,” it takes time to heal. Below are some helpful tips for staying positive throughout the process of breakups, but always remember that time ultimately heals all wounds.
Tip #1: Spend a Few Days Grieving
The first few days after a breakup are the hardest, and that’s why it’s important to spend as much time grieving as needed. Cry! Yell! Watch every romantic comedy movie ever produced! If those don’t intrigue you, there is nothing wrong with chowing down a pint of Double Fudge Brownie Ben & Jerry’s! However, after a few days of crying, binge-eating junk food, and not leaving your room, it’s time to get it together and start the healing process. Acknowledge your emotions, but do not let them consume you.
Tip #2: Practice Self-Care
A relationship ending is not indicative of there being something wrong with you. So, if you do get broken up with, remind yourself of your worth and practice self-care. My personal favorite self-care activity is working out. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins (which are know as the body’s feel good drug). If working out is not your favorite thing to do, try journaling, yoga, or face masks!
Tip #3: Lean on Friends and Family
Going through a breakup is difficult, but it is even more difficult when you have no one to talk to. Rely on your friends and family to help put all of the broken pieces back together. They will be there to wipe away your tears, make you laugh, and get you back to your happy self.
Tip #4: Do Not Turn to Hooking Up with Every Guy and their Brother
Hooking up with someone is not going to mend a broken heart. Take your time before jumping into a new relationship or hook up. After a breakup, the most important thing to do is focus on yourself.
Tip #5: Discover New Interests
Now that you have more free time, discover some new interests! Not only can these interests work as healthy coping mechanism for getting over a guy, but you may discover a talent you did not know you had. Try a Paint and Sip class with a friend, start a blog, or start taking yoga classes!
Tip #6: Cut Off All Contact
Checking your ex’s social media accounts is not going to make you feel better, and neither will texting them every day. As Thomas Kempis once quoted, “Out of sight, out of mind.” It’s time to start a new normal and officially say #BoyBye!
