Sometimes Earth just doesn’t satisfy me. How can it be, when we’ve been exposed to a plethora of amazing worlds, universes, dimensions that any child would beg to live in? I would love to drop everything to go on a jam packed adventure with my best friends to save the world from a power hungry villain. I want to discover my super powers, and learn that I’m not so human after all, and was created on an unknown planet. I’ve come to terms with my own human fate, that I’ll live out my life without any of these things. Yet that still hasn’t stopped my yearning to be a part of these legendary worlds. However, it's hard to pick just one fictional space to explore, when there are so many lands, and characters that I would die to see. To make it easier for myself, I’ve picked my top three fictional worlds that (in no particular order) I’d want to live in.
This first world should come as no surprise, since the majority of the human population either read the series or knows a version of the plot. All kids fell in love with the concept of magic after Harry Potter became the most popular wizard in possibly the whole world. That's why, if given the opportunity I’d love to be a part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. My desire for this world stems from just simply wanting to be a part of the infamous trio of friends, Ron, Hermoine and of course Harry. I mean who wouldn’t want to be in the same circle with the baby that survived an attack from ‘he who must not be named’; one thing for sure, I want Harry on my side of the battle. Also, can’t forget about meeting Hagrid, the friendly giant that can’t help but enable the trio more when he lets secret information loose. May not be the brightest of the staff at Hogwarts, but has a heart of gold. Besides meeting all the characters, just being able to practice magic and to study it at Hogwarts is another big reason to live in this world. Imagine having a class where you have to learn how to fly your broomstick! That blows learning algebra and calculus out of the water. Maybe kids would appreciate school more, if you were learning how to take care of magical creatures such as Buckbeak and other winged friends. This world is filled with magic, adventures, danger and extreme character growth; essentially a young child’s fantasy. Who wouldn’t trade Earth for the Wizarding World?
This other world doesn’t run on magic, but I’d definitely say that it doesn’t run on the three branches of government, considering there are countless planets that you could call home. The galaxy in the Star Wars Saga, offers another form of supernatural ability, along with the battle between good versus evil. There are so many places and characters to explore in this world, it’s hard to hammer down just a couple of reasons why the galaxy is appealing. Fighting for the rebellion, creating change and reaching out to form alliances is extremely empowering. All of the characters are so brave, standing up for what's right, even in the face of death and destruction; it would be an honor to stand with them in the midst of pure chaos. But more than anything, I would want to learn the ways of the force with the one and only, master Yoda. He’s such an iconic character, with the way he talks, his wise words and his impressive skills for his age and stature. Again, it would be the experience of a lifetime to be a part of the gang and ride in the millennium falcon, with Hans Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2 and C-P30. They're a dangerous crew, I wouldn’t want to mess with them. Ultimately, any super fan of the saga would know that holding and using a real life lightsaber would be a powerful feeling. It would put all those fake lightsaber fights to shame.
Now this last place is completely realistic and has no magic, force or anything non human. It could be boring for some, but ever since I was a little kid I’ve dreamed of living in New York City, having my own apartment and hanging with friends. That’s why, I’d loved to be zapped into the make believe world of the tv show, Friends. Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s an incredible dull setting compared to the other realms that were discussed. I understand it doesn’t have the villains, and action that go along with intergalactic battles or spells against the dark arts, but the great memories, friends and city the show takes place in holds a lot of potential. When you are at the point in your life where you are working, living on your own and finding a place in society, it's nice to know that you’ve got a supportive, fun circle of people around you. I would love to sit in Central Perk while Chandler cracks one of his hilarious jokes, while just sipping on some coffee enjoying the little moments in life. Imagine rocking the trendy 90s outfits that Rachel wore, and to eat all the delicious dishes Monica cookes up. To live with Monica and Rachel, right across the hall from Joey and Chandler would be just like a college memory. Especially in restricting times that we face today, I’ve come to realize interactions with friends is something we take for granted; so being put in a time where you could hang out anywhere and enjoy company, wouldn’t be so bad right about now. And if anything else doesn’t convince you, you would actually be able to tell Ross that YOU WEREN’T ON A BREAK.
